Writing ClassesPerfect for writing conferences or smaller groups. Dan teaches courses on writing characters and setting, point of view, research, and writing mysteries or crime in general.
Most programs are designed for one or two hours, which the exception of "Writing the Crime Novel," which is an "all-day" (six hour) class. He would also be happy to tailor a program for your group. Dan has been teaching at the Midwest Writers Workshop for years, as well as the Ann Arbor Writers Conference, the Kent District Library Writers Conference, and more. |
Historical PresentationsDan's historical presentations are focused around the early Twentieth Century, and he specializes in Detroit.
His books are set in 1910s Detroit, and he has done an immense amount of research about the area and the time. His topics include the rise and fall of the early electric car, Detroit's first mob war, Eloise Hospital (Wayne County's enormous asylum), and the political scandals of 1912. Dan's historical presentations have included the Smithsonian Museum's Traveling Program, as well as libraries, historical societies, and other groups. |
